Plastic products have become an integral part of our daily life, as a basic need. It is a fact that plastic don't degrade easily and remain on landscape for several years. Their indiscriminate use and littering is harmful for the environment. The Government of Himachal Pradesh enacted Himachal Pradesh Non- Biodegradable Garbage (Control) Act, in the year 1995, to deal with the menace of plastic and other non bio degradable material. In order to achieve the objectives of clean and Healthy Himachal, the Department of Environment, Science, Technology and Climate Change, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh has issued various notifications from time to time to prohibit indiscriminate use and littering of Plastic waste. Use of plastic carry bags, thermocol cups and plates etc have been totally banned in the State. The Department of Environment, Science, Technology and Climate Change, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh has compiled Acts, Rules and Notifications issued by the State Government from time to time to stop/prohibit the indiscriminate use and littering of plastic waste for its effective management.
